‘Fragments’ is four movements of deep techno delivered by Servent. Taking samples from the track ‘Fragments of a Memory’ from his album ‘Artifacts of Life’, released in June on Downstream, Servent now shifts his focus to the dancefloor.
Servent is the moniker of DJ and producer, Damon Vallero. His DJing and live performances have provided him with regular sets in clubs and festivals across Europe, while his music under various guises has been aired on MTV and the BBC and played by the likes of Ritchie Hawtin, Dave Clarke and many more. Predominantly a techno artist in the past, as well as owner of the Electracom label, Damon, now producing as Servent, recently released the electronica album ‘Artifacts of Life’ (Downstream – DSR26) where he explored the more atmospheric shades and elements of techno.
‘Fragments’ is an interesting alternative to the usual single releases that accompany an album. Here the ‘Fragments of A Memory’ samples are infused amongst the groove and bass of main room techno, taking you from the pulsating ‘Fragmentize’ via the machine-funk of ‘Fragmental’, to the drum-led ‘Fragmented’, before ‘Fragments’, the final melodic gift.
